A fan of Enterprise Imitations

I have long been a fan of imitation baits from Enterprise Tackle and their ever-growing range of products caters to a wide range of anglers.  Over the last few years I have been using Enterprise products more and more with great success.  Here are my top three catches using their products.

A brace of barbel weighing 15lb 8oz and 11lb 12oz – River Loddon

alan-stagg-15lb-8oz-barbelThe autumn of 2010/11 left me with a burning desire to catch a big barbel from my local River Loddon.  Being a front-runner in the Drennan Cup campaign I needed to use baits and tactics that I had one hundred percent confidence in.  Placing my faith in the trusty mag-aligner rig using an Enterprise Tackle mag-aligner grub slid over the hook shank I knew this would give a chance in tricking one of the rivers wily residents in this difficult section of river.  Two short evening sessions after work produced three fish weighing 13lb+ and brace of 11lb 12oz and 15lb 8oz.  This is undoubtedly the best barbel rig I have ever used.

8lb 5oz chub  River Loddon

alan-stagg-8lb-5oz-chubIn February of the 2010/11 season I was chasing a big chub on the River Loddon.  The stretch is a notoriously difficult low stock big fish area and when fishing venues where bites are at a premium confidence is everything.  During this time I was using one of my favourite tactics the mag-aligner,  which can be very effective when fishing for big river fish in low, clear conditions.  This rig involves threading an Enterprise mag-aligner grub down the hook shank ,which creates a line aligner effect, helping the hook to twist and turn in the fish s mouth, in my opinion one the best rig inventions in recent years.  Big chub can be hard creatures to trick, yet this rig accounted for 18 chub in a short three-week campaign fishing a few evenings a week and culminating in the monster I was hoping for weighing 8lb 5oz.

Big bream are a creature that has always fascinated me and in the spring of 2008 I had a burning desire to target this species and try and up my personal best.  I decided to concentrate on a difficult Surrey stillwater that held just a dozen fish in 9 acres.  I knew it was going to be difficult fishing, but I had confidence in the Enterprise imitation maggots I was using.  After several nights on the bank I had the bite I had been waiting for and I was soon holding a colossal bream, weighing 16lb 7oz, aloft for the camera proving the worth of imitation baits.
